Annoying Ads and the Internet

Standard

thadsWe all use the social media tools out there. Either as Google +, Twitter, MySpace, Facebook etc to keep in contact with friends or just share your personal experiences. Of course the best part of using these tools is that it’s all it’s free. These providers don’t just wait for us to sign up, they push ads to get us to join if we’re not on board. For them it’s about getting the most users to join and of course they want to make money. Which they do in order to sustain themselves and grow. But once on board, have you noticed the amount of Ad’s being thrown in your face? Want to get away from them? Well, it’s not that easy.

If you go on Facebook, especially now in the news feed they want to you “like” every product that’s out there. These companies are just dying to know what you’re in to. Why? So they can market to you. You can ignore it, which I do, but you can’t block or hide those annoying ads. But my all time favorite is when they tell you who of your friends likes this product or company. Like I really care to know. If my friend likes it, well good for them. All I can do now is scroll past the ads as fast as possible as there is no real solutions is hide these permanently. I also notice Twitter as of late has been getting these promotional ads. So far it’s not that bad, but it’s making me nervous. What ever happened to popup banners, or just having the ads on the side of the web page like in the past? The aggressiveness of these marketers has just gotten worse over the past year.

There has to be a better way to do this. Why do they just have to shove their crap down our throats. At least when your watch TV you can change the channel. But not online. Enjoy YouTube videos?  We’ll enjoy it now with ads. I’m sure most of us have experienced those stupid 5 second ads you can skip and some you can’t. Is there a way to block these? Right now my solution is to just mute it until it passes. Not the best, but it will do for now…

Are these websites not making enough money and now want more of these corporations on board to increase their profit? I’m not entirely sure what’s going on here, but the way that they are doing it is not very creative. But for now all I can do is ignore, mute, or close whatever the internet throws at me. It’s annoying, but I’m sure that’s how things are going to be for now on. As these corporations will continue to shove their ads down our throats..
